Michele Parrinello (born 1945 Messina, Italy) is Professor of Computational Science at ETH Zurich, and Director of the Swiss Center for Scientific Computing (CSCS) in Manno, Switzerland. He graduated from University of Bologna with a degree in physics in 1968. He was professor at International School for Advanced Studies. He was Director at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research. He was visiting professor at University of California, Santa Barbara. He received the Aneesur Rahman prize in computational physics. The Rahman prize is the highest honor given by the American Physical Society for work in computational physics.
